Recognizing Prior Learning (RPL) is:
- A process for identifying and documenting a person’s skills, knowledge and gifts gained through formal and informal learning
- It includes life experiences, employment, hobbies, volunteer work and studying on your own
- A way to gain credit toward education programs and open doors to employment. (More)

- The nine Essential Skills – what they are, why they are needed, and how they affect adults’ lives
- Who the provincial Essential Skills coordinators are and how to contact them
- How to use the HRSDC website as a resource tool
- Recognizing Prior Learning (RPL) – what it is, how it works, and how it can help communities and individuals
